Patrick Puts His Foot In It For A 2nd Blog

The answers to the last quiz were: SEASONS, GUARDED, GUESSER, PARTNER, ACREAGE, UNSHOED, GUNBOAT, HELIPAD, NUTLOAF and BUGSEED

BUGSEED was quite a tricky one. Apparently it is a common name for a Northern Hemisphere plant called corispermum. Curiously corispermum isn’t in the scrabble dictionary. Further searching on the internet got me that it was a genus of plants in the goosefoot family. It isn’t so common to play 9 letter words at scrabble, but just imagine your opponent has played FOOT in the bottom right hand corner of the board. What words could you play to extend FOOT back to the other triple word score? The following words aren’t common ones to play, but wouldn’t it be fun?

BAREFOOT, CLUBFOOT, CROWFOOT, DUCKFOOT, FLATFOOT, FOALFOOT, FOREFOOT, HINDFOOT, POLTFOOT, BIRDSFOOT, COCKSFOOT, COLTSFOOT, CROWSFOOT, EIGHTFOOT, GOOSEFOOT, PUSSYFOOT, SPLAYFOOT, STAIRFOOT, UNDERFOOT, TANGLEFOOT, TENDERFOOT, WOOLLYFOOT

You will see there are some you could have thought of for yourself as well as the more unusual ones. EIGHTFOOT means measuring 8 feet, but don’t ask me why that is in the dictionary, but sevenfoot is not. Sometimes there are weird anomalies like that and you can only go by the rule that the words in the official word list are what is allowed and that is an end to it.

For this week’s quiz there are 10 words. For each one there is an anagram, so just imagine the first word will not fit on the board. You need to find the anagram to be able to play a bingo. I have tried to put them in order of difficulty just like last week

F – A – I – N – T – E – D

G – R – I – E – V – E – D

F – I – G – U – R – E – D

I – N – F – I – E – L – D

S – E – E – D – I – L – Y

D – I – V – O – R – C – E

H – E – E – D – I – N – G

D – O – S – A – G – E – S

B – U – T – A – N – E – S

C – O – S – T – I – N – G

I am away for a week. The answers will be in the next blog when I return Patrick
