Don't look At Me Bruv
I have been watching a few of the Real Life police programmes or repossession agent programs from England recently and I have noticed one word that seemed to come up a lot. It is the word BRUV, which is obviously the slang word at the moment for ‘brother.’ However, don’t rush to play it. Despite the commonplace appearance on those programs it is not a legal play in scrabble, at least not yet.
They aren’t very nice letters for scrabble anyway. The following 6 combos are the only 7 letter words possible including those letters:
A A B R R V U
A B E R R V U
B D E O R V U
B E I O R U V
B E O R U V Y
B E R S T U V
Most of them are not too hard to work out, so see if you can find the answers before you scroll down the page.
Since BRUV wasn't allowed I wondered about the long form - BRUVVER, but that is not allowed either. However, considering how much i have seen it used on TV it seems likely that the next time the dictionary is updated that BRUV and BRUVVER might be included.
Anyway, that is enough for the non-words. How did you go finding the bingos?
BRAVURA A brilliant display of musical technique
BRAVURE The same as above, just a different spelling
OVERDUB To add sound to a recording
BOUVIER A large rough coated dog originally bred to herd and guard cattle
OVERBUY To buy too much
SUBVERT To destroy completely
I didn’t know BOUVIER. Only that It was Jacqui Kennedy’s maiden name.
Happy Scrabbling
