4 Consonants 4 Vowels

Still in Buenos Aires playing bridge, but we have been knocked out of the main event. We qualified in 13th place to make the knockout matches among the top 16 teams, but our round of 16 match was against the team representing Poland. They had topped the qualifying, so we were not expected to win that match and would have needed to be lucky. Unfortunately, the reverse was true, and it wasn’t close.

I wore a scrabble shirt one day. The next day one of the organisers of the bridge event sought me out to say: “I saw your shirt yesterday. You played my husband in 2003!”

Her husband is Dave Weigand, and yes, I did play him when he was representing the USA 20 years ago. What a small world it is.

I am sure you would have found LEMONIER, but would you have thought that MELONIER was a word? Checking through some other fruits CHERRIER is good but pearier is not. APPLIER is fine, and not just as someone who applies because APPLIEST is good too. You can't have berrier or any of the berry family. NUTTIER is quite a common bingo to see on the board. It would be fun to turn that into PEANUTTIER or COCONUTTIER
