Playing Mike on Monday night I was challenged on a 3 letter word

It was WYN, so I thought a good list would be on similar words

Three letter words with a Y in the middle, but not using any vowels

BYS, NYS and SYN are perhaps the least useful of them

You generally would want to 'waste' an S in a 3 letter word

GYM - short for gymnasium

GYP - to swindle. Also spelled GIP

HYP - to offend

LYM - a kind of bloodhound. Also spelled LYAM or LYME

MYC - a cancer-causing gene

NYM - an internet word to do with disputes. It does not take an S

PYX - to test newly minted coins

TYG - an old drinking cup with two or more handles

WYN - a rune having the value of the modern English W

Extensions other than a simple S are:

GYMP, GYPO, HYPE, HYPO, LYME, SYNC, SYND, SYNE, WYND, WYNN
