B and C Grade Study List

Everyone occasionally gets a rack with 7 consonants without even a Y. Usually you try to play through a vowel on the board. A 6 letter word through that vowel it is much better than just a 5 letter word. If you have played off only 4 of your consonants then you are still drawing to the next rack with 3 consonants. Often you pick up another 3 consonants and only one vowel. Every extra tile you can play gives you an extra chance of getting more vowels. Here are some 6 letter words you might not have known. Maybe you can play 5 of your consonants through one vowel on the board

BLINTZ

A thin filled pancake. Woth remembering that you can put an E on the end for BLINTZE

BRICHT

A Scottish spelling of the word BRIGHT. You might think you can also play britch, but you would be mistaken as it has to be BRITCHES

DIRNDL

An Alpine peasant woman’s dress

DRACHM

An old Greek monetary unit before they adopted the Euro. You might know it as DRACHMA so don’t forget to add the A if you can

FRATCH

A brawl. Takes a Y hook for FRATCHY

GLUNCH

A verb meaning to frown. That is what your opponent might do if they play LUNCHED and you hook the G in front of it

GRUMPH

To grunt. Another Scottish spelling

KLEPHT

A Greek brigand or guerilla

KRANTZ

A crown of rock on a mountain. It can also be spelled KRANS or KRANZ
