Wu Hu

Of all the possible combinations of a consonant and a vowel one of the worst ones is a W and a U. You probably want to get rid of both of them in one play. Fortunately there are a few possibilities, but before we get to those we will have the A grade challenge. I am sure the two letters for the theme this week will delight them…..NOT! They definitely won’t say woohoo!

A Grade Challenge

Can you unscramble these 7 letter words with U and W? Answers are at the end

D F L M O U W

G L N O S U W

B H N O T U W

E F H I S U W

B E M S T U W

3 Letter Words

There are 3 words of this length that include a U and W

WUD

To load something with wood. So WUDDED and WUDDING are both allowed. This Scottish word has an Islamic connection because in expert games another U will often be hooked after it to make WUDU. A ritual washing before daily prayer. It can also be extended to WUDDY or WUDDIES. A large loop at the end of a rope

WUS

If you thought this meant a wimp you are wrong. It is a Welsh term for addressing a companion. If it is extended with a second S to make WUSS it does mean a wimp and then can be extended further to make WUSSY

WUZ

A non-standard spelling of WAS used to express either dialect or informal pronunciation. I can’t see it as a regional Kiwi accent, but probably for someone from Somerset in England
